Red nose day by mastercard

Happy Red Nose Day! Mastercard has built the world's first contactless red nose to raise money for Comic Relief. Passers-by at The Bullring, Birmingham can simply tap the nose to donate £3, plus if they use a Mastercard donations are doubled. All money will go to Comic Relief, which helps some of the poorest people in the UK and around the world.

The contactless red nose will be unveiled at The Bullring, Birmingham, next to the iconic bull statue on Thursday 23rdMarch, and will be available to the public all day on Thursday and Friday 24th March. Any donations made using a Mastercard will be doubled, and volunteers will be on hand to help. Locally-funded projects will also attend and celebrate.

Mark Barnett, president, UK&I at Mastercard commented: “We know people are carrying less cash on them thanks to the huge growth of contactless payments. But people in need shouldn’t lose out, so this Red Nose Day we’re replacing collection buckets with a giant contactless red nose. By helping charities innovate, we can ensure new technologies benefit everyone and in this case, raise even more money for Comic Relief!”
